I’ve been a digital developer, instruction designer, department manager, director, and producer of close to a thousand courses. I’ve made courses for private research universities, including Stanford, for-profit universities, including Kaplan, community college consortia, including Iowa’s, courses for seven state online high schools, including Illinois and Florida, and courses for thousands of experienced nurses across the country going from RN to BSN.
In this example, I was the instruction designer for a course on cognitive rehabilitation. I worked with the SME and raw script, re-wrote and storyboarded the content, and then tagged it with proprietary XML that populated content to select proprietary templates.
Again, here, I was the instruction designer, this time, a course on diagnosing eye conditions. I worked with artists to create support images, usually referencing several texts to create something original or asking permission for usage-rights from a publisher. As the designer, I would also determine global rules for the course, such as pictured here, requiring global use of pronunciation support in text and audio formats.
