Rarely do people get the opportunity to be part of building an authoring system from scratch. I was fortunate enough to get that chance. I proposed the need and received the necessary funding to build a complete end-to-end solution (patent pending). I provided concept direction to my team, ongoing requirements at the screen level and conducted usability testing with administrators and instruction designers. I managed a development team to refine the system outputs for ADA/508 compliance, including usability testing blind, low vision, and low mobility users. Today, the tool stores, creates, and publishes hundreds of original online course titles for Pearson.
The first screen shows the new course set-up. Basics about the course are stored in a single-source database: the title, catalog description, number of credit hours, etc.
The second screen shows drag and drop alignment of learning outcomes to learning objectives.
This screen shows the area for creating the course outline and authoring and editing of all pages that are uploaded to a LMS.
Pictured here, is the area for creating media-rich lesson presentations. Notice the preview dropdown menu allows the author to preview the new content on any device before publishing.
